AUTHENTICITY

Boston Mills products are classic pieces of furniture that are identifiable as authentic by several characteristics.

Since inception until 2023, Boston Mills products have only been sold within the Continental United States (excludes Hawaii and Alaska). Moreover, we don't ship to Puerto Rico, Guam, or US Virgin Islands.

All Boston Mills products sold since the beginning of 2021 and onwards come with a Certificate of Authenticity, which certifies the product's authenticity, holds its specific serial number, and provides detailed information on your Boston Mills purchase.

Early Boston Mills furniture seldom came with a serial number and did not have a Certificate of Authenticity. The custom nature of the business created many one-of-a-kinds or highly unique variants. If you want to request a certification of a previous purchase, please submit a request via email. All submissions must include photographs taken from several angles and available documentation such as upholstery labels and invoices. We must receive payment before rendering authentication services. We will review each request and provide a confirmation and certification where the purchase is verifiable by us.

When buying a Boston Mills product on the secondary market, we strongly advise buying from a trusted source such as a big auction house or a reputable dealer.

CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY

We have partnered with Tagsmart to produce our Certificates of Authenticity. Tagsmart's highly secure Certificates of Authenticity and digitally encrypted transactions provide unparalleled security while maintaining the provenance record of your piece.

Upon purchase, immediately register the initial certificate that came with your purchase. Registration will enable access to the Certificate's online record, establish yourself as the registered owner, and help secure the provenance and value of your Boston Mills piece.

BLOCKCHAIN

Blockchain is one of the latest and most ambitious computing innovations. It has made its presence felt in several industries, including premium-priced assets and rare and high-end art pieces. The high-end furniture industry has long been experiencing considerable challenges relating to transparency, authentication, ownership, provenance, copyright, and forgery.

Boston Mills has partnered with Tagsmart and invested in becoming a part of the blockchain to address many problems connected with ownership, transparency, provenance, copyright, and forgery. All Boston Mills’ Certificates are automatically filed in the blockchain.

A significant advantage of the technology is that its ledger is immutable. Thus, it is almost impossible to forge or fake the provenance of a Boston Mills piece once it has been listed on the blockchain. Suppose Rebecca purchases a Boston Mills piece, and the transaction is logged in a blockchain-style system. In that case, it will prevent John from falsifying the record in the future to prove that he was the purchaser, not Rebecca.

Boston Mills furniture pieces are built for generations; therefore, each piece’s blockchain record of ownership will grow over time. If these records are made accessible, potential buyers can better understand each Boston Mills furniture piece’s history, track past locations, and determine its actual value. These records would be considered widely authentic since they were stored through blockchain and are not alterable.
