An extravagant and imposing desk inspired from designs of the renowned cabinet maker Jacques Rinke and the French Louis XV era. It reflects the era of gradual transition from the massive and baroque style of the Louis XIV reign to the light and fanciful style of Louis XV’s mid-reign.
Ornate floral carvings create an elegant, old-world aesthetic. The magnificent moulded top rests over a scalloped shaped frieze housing three drawers. The two side drawers have acanthus leaf c-scroll carved handles, while the central drawer has a symmetrical acanthus leaf handle and is bordered by a decorated foliate carved motif. The desk is raised on handsome tapering cabriole legs adorned by similar richly carved scrolling foliate mounts with wrap around carved sabots. Handmade and hand finished in solid rosewood.
