George I Commode

George I Commode

An extravagant commode inspired from early George I, the gently undulating front has three large drawers encompassed by delicate beading. The sides are also gently molded and adorned with acanthus leaf carving.

The eighteen inch wide top is composed of a single piece of solid rosewood and somewhat projecting at the sides and finished at the edges with a cyma molding. It is raised upon four squat bandy legs terminating in bracket feet featuring a carved foliate motif.

This piece is a medley of light carving and symmetrical curves. The exotic grains of rosewood add a distinct appeal to this piece. Handmade and hand finished in solid rosewood.
